Unconventional Resources Completion and Stimulation - URCS
Petrophysics of Unconventional Reservoirs - PUR
Reservoir Management for Unconventional Reservoirs - RMUR
Evaluating and Developing Shale Resources - SRE
Discipline: Introductory and Multi-Discipline Training
Duration: 5 days
Instructor(s): Jeffrey (Jeff) Aldrich, Steve Sadoskas, John Seidle
This course will cover current practices for evaluating, drilling, and completing these challenging reservoirs with the primary goal that all participants come away with a clear understanding of the role and value of every discipline in an integrated team. Discussions and exercises will include a focus on the limitations of many of the current tools and technologies. Information and opportunities for many current and international shale plays will be described. The participant should leave the course with a foundational understanding of value-adding shale gas resource practices and an insight into determining the critical reservoir and stimulation parameters used to predict a potential commercial resource play.
Reservoir, production and completion engineers, petrophysicists, geologists, geophysicists, and other professionals who desire a thorough overview of both current and emerging concepts, technologies, and processes related to shale gas and shale oil resource development.
You Will Learn:

He has over 30 years of global oil and gas experience working from frontier exploration through appraisal and large development projects. His expertise is in unconventional reservoirs, prospect evaluation, reserve determinations and multi-discipline and multi-culture team dynamics. Prior to joining MHA, he held various management and technical positions with Dart Energy, an Australian global unconventional gas company, Greenpark Energy, a UK CBM company, PetroSA, the South African national oil company, Forest Oil, Maxus Energy and Pennzoil Oil and Gas Company. He has a BS in Geology from Vanderbilt University and an MS in Geology from Texas A&M University. He is an active member in the AAPG, SPE, RMAG, DWLS, DIPS and is a Certified Petroleum Geologist (#3791). He is author or co-author of over 25 papers and/or technical presentations.
MR. STEVE SADOSKAS is an oil and gas professional with over 35 years of experience in engineering, technical management, business development and operations management. Steve holds a BSEE from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. His career includes tours with Schlumberger, The Expro Group, Pinnacle Technologies, Baker Hughes, and Trican Well Services. During his Schlumberger career, Steve gained significant experience in marketing, delivery, and technical support for wireline services. At the Expro Group, he became versed in offshore well testing, permanent monitoring, and subsea completions intervention. While with Baker Hughes, Steve served as General Manager of VSFusion, a Baker Hughes/ CGG joint venture for hydraulic fracture monitoring, using microseismic and borehole seismic services. With VSFusion, he oversaw worldwide operations, R&D, sales, and data processing functions. Trican Well Services added valuable experience in hydraulic fracturing services and in new technology ventures. Over his career, Steve has conducted extensive training with service providers and operators, from small independents to majors and national oil companies. Steve has experience with most aspects of oil and gas operations, including conventional and unconventional, domestic and international, land and offshore.
DR. JOHN SEIDLE is a Vice President and Senior Reservoir Engineer with MHA Petroleum Consultants, a Denver based petroleum consulting firm. He has more than 25 years' experience in unconventional gas reservoirs, primarily coalbed methane. His coalbed methane experience includes exploration, development, production optimization, and enhanced recovery projects in the USA, Canada, Australia, India, Poland, South Africa, Colombia, Turkey, United Kingdom, Mexico, China, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia. He has also performed reservoir engineering studies and reserve evaluations for gas shales and conventional gas and oil projects throughout the USA. He has taught an industry coalbed methane course for over a decade. He has co-authored 21 technical papers, a monograph chapter and holds 6 patents. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Colorado, Oklahoma, and Wyoming and a member of SPE, SPEE, and CIM. He received a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado.
