Michael Godfrey is an independent Process Safety Advisor with over 35 years of experience in both upstream and downstream and onshore / offshore operations. Until May 2024 Mike worked for bp, holding Engineering and Engineering Management positions in several regions around the globe including Europe, Asia and the Americas.
From 2014 until 2024 Mike was based in the Middle East, working with Joint Venture and non-operated National Oil Companies. His role was transferring Process Safety experience through coaching and competency development for Process Safety teams; training of staff from CEO to supervisor levels; leading systematic improvement in PHA studies, Management of Change, risk assessment and mitigation.
Since H2 2024 Mike is now an independent consultant and supports Petroskills developing and delivering their Process Safety training modules and courses.
Mike holds a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Imperial College, London and is a Fellow of the IChemE. In his spare time Mike indulges in travel and photography and keeping fit through cycling and running.
