Steven Bachtel

DR. STEVEN L. BACHTEL is Principal Geologist/Geological Advisor with AIMGeoanalytics. Steve has over 30 years of experience as a reservoir geologist in exploration, development, and research for major oil companies. His career has focused on carbonate and mixed carbonate-siliciclastic reservoir characterization and sequence stratigraphy using integrated datasets including core, log, seismic, production, and outcrop data. Steve has previously worked for ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, and Chevron and has investigated many of the major carbonate fields in the world including those in the Pricaspian Basin, Timan-Pechora Basin, Permian Basin, the Middle East, and SE Asia. Steve was an AAPG Distinguished Lecturer in 2006-2007 and has given invited talks on seismic stratigraphy in carbonates. He has taught field and classroom carbonate seminars in Modern and ancient carbonate systems throughout his career. He received his M.S. from the University of Idaho and his PhD from Texas A&M University. Steve has also been an Adjunct Professor at The University of Texas at Austin where he taught classes in Modern Carbonates and Carbonate Petrology.
